She was born in 1966 in Ankara and graduated from Bornova Anatolian High School (1984) and Boğaziçi University Electronics Department (1989).

Between 1989 and 2007, she worked at Türk Ekonomi Bankası and Demirbank, respectively, and after the acquisition of Demirbank continued working at HSBC Bank as Aegean Regional Manager for Retail Banking. After establishing the Solo Deniz Yachting Company, which has sailboat, catamaran and motor yacht distributorships, in 2007, she was elected to the management by establishing the Solo Sailing Club with her husband Rebii Akdurak.

In 2016, in the elections of the Turkish Sailing Federation, she took the seat of the presidency by receiving the most votes. In addition, she was elected president for the second time in the elections which was held in 2021. She currently competes in the yacht class with the sailing team “Safinaz” that she founded in 2004 with her female friends and the boat of the same name.
